My name is Linton and I'm passionate about energy, the environment and global affairs.

I graduated in law at the University of Genoa with a thesis titled Prospects of the Paris Agreement (COP-21) on Climate Change. I chose the topic on purpose: I wanted to understand the legal frame in which the energy transition was being built.

This is my story, so far.

2016
LP&P, Genoa · Trainee Lawyer
In 2016, right after graduating, I joined LP&P in Genoa as a trainee. It's where I learned how a law firm actually runs day to day. How to read a contract carefully. How customs and import regulations interact with commercial contracts. How to run legal due diligence on a target company before an acquisition, covering environmental, contractual and litigation risks. And how to tell the difference between a real legal risk and a business call. Those years taught me that good legal work starts with understanding the business behind the matter, not the other way round.
2018–2019
Postgraduate Master's, University of Genoa
While still at LP&P, I completed a postgraduate Master's in Transport, Insurance and International Law at the University of Genoa. It gave me the vocabulary I would use every day for the next several years: charterparties, marine insurance, cargo regimes, EU competition rules in the transport sector.
2019
AON Insurance Broker, Genoa · Legal Counsel
I joined AON on the insurance side of marine transport and offshore. In the claim files, I saw what the Postgraduate Master's had described in theory. Cargo policies and the gap between Incoterms and the bill of lading. Marine claims following collisions and equipment damage. The particular terms that apply to oil tankers. How to set up a H&M cover for offshore supply equipment and subsea assets. It's one thing to read a clause. It's another to watch one play out on a million euro claim file.
2019
Italian bar admission
The same year, I passed the bar and was admitted as a qualified Italian lawyer (Avvocato). I could now represent clients in Italian national courts.
2021–2023
Camera Vernetti & Partners, Genoa and London · International Maritime Lawyer
In 2021, I joined Camera Vernetti & Partners and started working full time in maritime and international trade. I advised marine logistics providers on multimodal transport and marine claims. I drafted and reviewed charterparties, service agreements and BIMCO standard forms. Working across Italian, English and international maritime law became routine and it became clear that the world I was working in was much bigger than Italy.
2024
England and Wales qualification
In 2024, I qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales, so I could advise clients across both common law and civil law jurisdictions seamlessly.

Rotterdam and Monaco

SBM Offshore · Senior Legal Counsel

I'm Senior Legal Counsel at SBM Offshore, where I work on offshore installation and logistics. The day-to-day includes:

FT&I and EPCI contracts for FPU and FPSO units in the Gulf of Mexico, the Brazilian pre-salt and the North Sea.
BIMCO charterparties for subsea infrastructure projects. Vessel chartering under TOWCON, SUPPLYTIME, HEAVYCON and HEAVYLIFTVOY forms.
Multi-year framework agreements with key equipment suppliers.
T&I contracts for offshore wind installations.

The work moves between all continents and into conversations with operators, contractors and engineers from very different cultures.
